funny dream last night 30.12.
Abbie Hoffman is making a documentary about notoriously pro-free-market Whole Foods CEO John Mackey. Hoffman is interviewing Mackey in one room of a huge deserted old private school building. Most of the lights in the building are off, but there are big bright lights on in the room where the filming is taking place. Suddenly those lights go off too. Mistress Deliya and I are responsible for finding new lights. We wander around the dark building until we walk into a room where there are halogen bulbs in the closet. She starts to climb a ladder to get them, but I warn her that we can’t use halogens because they’re implicated in a recent crime. When we get back to the interview room, John Mackey is trying to convince Abbie Hoffman that he’s not as bad as his reputation, that he really is a radical and a revolutionary despite having a huge boner for capitalism. He starts talking about one of the many court cases against him during the period that he was trying to start Whole Foods: “I had to testify once, and they put me in a big field full of herbs and greens and whatnot, and they made me pick things and put them in a bowl and eat them for a salad. And you know what, they tried to pin a flare-up of bootlegging and dancing on me during Prohibition!”
Weird.
